This unit was particularly interesting to me because, as stated in the introduction, I'm typically unaware of all the rules that go into parts of speech. It comes very natural to me as a native English speaker. While the rules were all something we touched on when I was young, it's been quite some time since I've actually had to touch on them. Transitive and intransitive verbs, along with countable and uncountable nouns, and zero articles were all parts of speech that stuck out to me in this unit. While I know what they are in grammar, I've never really reflected on the rules. It is very obvious to me how a student without a natural subjection to the English language might be overwhelmed by all the rules and exceptions in parts of speech. I think as a teacher, this is an area where patience and the ability to guide and correct without being offensive will be particularly useful as it can be frustrating.
