This unit covered classroom management techniques. I learned the various ways teachers can control their classes by simply using their eyes, voice, and gestures. This unit covered seating arrangements and how different arrangements benefit different classes. Bigger classes often call for a more traditional seating style so that the teacher can maintain discipline and class attention, while smaller classes can implement a horse shoe style and have a more intimate classroom style with a less dominant teacher presence. Individual seating can be used to focus on each student individually to help with their study needs. The unit also covered the benefits and disadvantages of student talk time and teacher talk time. More student talk time and less teacher talk time is usually for the best, but students must also be able to listen to natural English.
