Teach English in Luping Zhen - Qiannan Buyizu Miaozu Zizhizhou
This unit covers how to teach the productive skills: speaking and writing. The information includes what should be considered in preparing lessons for speaking and writing, possible issues that students may encounter (and how to address them), and activity ideas. In particular, I learned that accuracy and fluency don't necessarily have to be tied together in speaking-focused lessons. While accuracy can be a component of fluency, it doesn't have to be (and shouldn't be) the main focus of fluency-based activities. Rather, fluency-based activities should have a more communicative goal in which the students are allowed to be creative and speak with a natural flow (as would be expected in conversation). As a result, students can be more engaged and involved in their own learning: through experimentation, they can reinforce what they've learned and learn new things that might not be covered intricately in lessons.
