In this unit, the four aspects of the past tense were covered. I appreciated the directness of this unit, since it allowed me to compare and contrast the past aspects in close proximity to each other. I can see how this unit would pose a problem for students, since it is pretty confusing to talk about timelines in the past, not to mention the sheer amount of irregular verbs that the students have to memorize. That is why I enjoyed the \"usage\" explanations and the \"activate\" activity ideas so much. I really appreciated the activity idea about writing a story backwards, starting from the end and working into the past in order to use the past perfect and past perfect continuous aspects. This is a genuine use of the aspects, since that is a real life example of when a native speaker would choose to use those two aspects. I really appreciated the general overview of this unit, since these aspects are tricky to explain.
