In unit thirteen I learnt more about teaching phonics. Pronunciation is one of the most difficult parts of the English language. Phonics is rarely taught in school and universities(anyhow it depends on type of university in my opinion) that is why it is a bit difficult to teach this aspect. Some native speakers find it difficult to hear how intonation goes in a sentence (fall/rise or rise/fall). A good teacher considers the teaching of pronunciation as a part of course. Some teachers can teach pronunciation the entire lesson, some teachers teach this aspect little by little as part of a lesson. For foreigners it is necessary to learn pronunciation otherwise native speakers could barely understand what a foreigner is trying to say. Also it is important to know phonemic alphabet for a foreign student, thus he/she would be able to look through information in dictionary at home and then pronounce it correctly in classroom.
