In this unit I have learned a lot about the relationship between teachers and learners and the qualities that a good teacher and a good learner should posses have been outlined. In particular, it was pivotal learning about the different roles a teacher can assume and the importance of being able to switch between them appropriately, basing on the needs of the students. Focus has been also put on the differences between adults and young learners and how life experience, behaviour, motivation, life experience can influence the learning process and must be taken into account when planning a lesson. Moreover, the classification between different levels of English has been fully clarified. Finally, the unit helped me understand how complex and delicate the relationship between teacher and students is and that ultimately a caring, motivating and encouraging teacher will be more likely to have successful students.
