This unit covered the productive skills which are speaking and writing. When teaching speaking skills there are two main types of activities, accuracy and fluency. Accuracy activities are controlled by the teacher in order to practice pronunciation and producing correct language. Fluency activities are more creative and the output content is created by the students. Activities such as free role-play, debates, and communication games allow students to experiment and improve the flow of communication. The unit also touched on writing skills and some of the factors that ned to be considered are handwriting, spelling, punctuation, and layout. Each part of this unit also included an example lesson plan. Lastly, the unit discussed the use of games in the classroom. I have learnt how to provide lesson plans that incorporate both controlled and guided activities to work on accuracy as well as more creative activities to work on fluency.
