When learning as a student, I have never thought about the many facets of teaching, nor have I consciously identified them within my instructors. This first unit has already opened my eyes to the fact that a teacher needs to have more than kindness and the desire to teach, but that they must also be able to understand weaknesses and engage with all students in the class. Further, I am already wondering how to encompass all roles of the teacher and where I will excel or need development. Regardless of what teaching roles I will most exhibit, it is beneficial to know more about the learners and what possible motivations they have for learning, and if they don't have motivations, realizing that you might have to find that motivation. This is a daunting process, but I think the most important aspects of this unit so far are: teach to the situation & realize that each student must be considered individually in their learning style.
