Tense and aspect in grammatical forms become easier to work out following the logic of their most basic forms. Starting with present tense it can be easy to convey and explain meaning to students whose native tongue is not English (or variation thereof). However, irregular verbs and their conjugated participles require more attention to detail, for example 'write' - 'written'. Fortunately, such forms can be made easier to teach and corrections are vital. There are a variety of useful methods for teaching tenses such as the 20 question routine, which allows the students to formulate many forms of verbs back to the teacher. The English tenses can be very difficult to grasp for the beginner, it is worth stressing the irregularities of the language but also stress the rigorous patterns of the regularities. Many mistakes are bound to be made here but reformulating the tenses into questions and negative forms will become useful.
