Unit 8 covered future tenses--future simple, future perfect, future continuous, future perfect continuous, 'going to' future--and included two present tenses, present simple and present continuous, that can be used for the future. Additionally, this unit described the form, usage, common mistakes/errors, and teaching ideas of each tense and offered advice about how to approach the tenses that students confuse with each other. This is what I found to be the most beneficial from unit 8. When teaching these tenses, it is important to relate and differentiate them to each other so that students can understand right away how to recognize differences among their forms and usages. For instance, it may help the students to have a lesson on future simple tense quickly followed by a lesson on 'going to' future tense so that they can learn to recognize the differences in their forms and grow accustomed to their usages sooner rather than later.
