Unit Two covers an introduction to English grammar and parts of speech. I already knew some of the basics of parts of speech, such as nouns, adjectives, verbs, etc. But I learned new things about more specific parts of speech after reading this unit. For instance, I never knew that there were different types of verbs such as transitive, intransitive, infinitive, and auxiliary. I also learned how to identify articles such as ?a,? ?an,? and ?the.? I had never heard of gerunds before either. At the beginning of this unit test, the first few questions refer to the following sentence: ?An old man walked slowly across the road.? Before reading this unit, I would only have been able to identify the nouns, adjective, verb, and adverb (but I wouldn?t have been able to identify them more specifically, such as the countable noun). Now I can identify the parts of speech of every word in the sentence.
