Unit Eight is a continuation from Unit Seven. The unit proceeds from information on receptive skills to introduce and discuss productive skills. Accuracy and fluency activities are compared and analyzed. Speaking and writing activities are divided into elements and listed to provide examples for effective development of learners' skills. There is also a list of games that provide an element of fun in the classroom. An example ESA lesson provides a recommended lesson structure concentrating on developing productive communication skills. Productive skills, as noted in Unit Eight, are an important element when teaching a language. I intend paying more attention to developing productive skills during future lessons. Speaking and writing provide an insight into language development and enable evaluation of the learning process. Also confidence gained by students from improved communication may lead to motivation and enhanced learning.
