This Unit focused on the usages of different types of tests that could and are conducted by teachers/schools. Placement and diagnostic tests are used for assessing the students language level and what level they should be placed in, the diagnostic tests are somewhat more expansive and are usually used to help tailor the course syllabus with the overall weaknesses of the class in certain areas of English rather than an overall balanced approach. The practice tests follow the structure and format of external standardized tests that students may want to take for study or work related reasons and then there are the progress tests that help the teacher to stay informed as to what knowledge has been retained as well as what knowledge has been forgotten by students. The progress tests can be taken any number of different ways and in different frequencies but such things are usually dictated by the school and is outside of the teachers control.
