This unit opened my eyes to how complex pronunciation is. Now that I am working in ESL my goal is to be more confident in this area to be able to help students and this unit is a good start. How intonation can change the meaning of what we say is a big point I am taking away from this lesson. As a native speaker, it is something that just happens when I talk since I know what I mean to say. Understanding that students may not be one-hundred percent on this is very helpful. I am at a bit of a crossroads since I modify how I speak in order for students to be able to understand so I often times compromise my regular intonation, as I move forward I will have to find a better balance. The Phonemic alphabet is the bane of my existence since it does confuse me but I will try and work with it to be better versed in it. Articulation is something I will try and incorporate more activities that allow them to better feel the articulation for themselves.
