Unit 4 covered Materials, which includes authentic and non-authentic materials, a well prepared lesson plan, course books, the internet, etc. A very interesting part of this unit was classroom management. I learned that classes can be just controlled by teachers, where students just answer questions when asked by the teacher, classes where students do what they want; which in my opinion cannot work because the teacher is not even able to follow any lesson plan to teach appropriate, and a controlled active class where students speak when they are asked to and listen when necessary. I also learned that a good classroom management also depends on different criteria; e.g. voice, gesture, eye contact and position of the teacher, grouping of students and classroom arrangements, etc. For example a good lesson plan will not necessarily result in a successful lesson when the teacher?s voice is too quiet so that the students can understand a word.
