The content of Unit 12 is on teaching productive skills - speaking and writing - along with the use of games in the classroom. Accuracy and fluency of language is emphasised, with both carrying equal importance, and also listed are activities that help develop these skills. There is a section on encouraging students to speak in the classroom, with helpful techniques and guidelines, and a sample lesson. The section on writing skills covers handwriting, spelling, layout and punctuation, creative writing and a sample lesson. There is a section on using games in the classroom, advising that games should be considered an integral part of the syllabus, along with ideas for accessing and using games to benefit language learning. As with other units, the teaching of productive skills and the use of games has opened yet more horizons for teaching English language. I feel that I have learned ideas and skills to assist with the teaching of these topics.
