This unit is beneficial for two reasons. First, the outline and description of the types of test that teachers or schools can or will administer. Starting with the placement and diagnostic tests and moving through the progress tests will help a teacher to identify the strengths, weaknesses, and overall progress of the students. Also, by noting that tests can be formal or informal but need to be based on information taught, in regards to progress tests, will give teachers ideas on how to assess their classes. Second, the section on external exams can benefit a teacher in two ways. It gives them a basic knowledge base of the types of exams working adults or continuing students might need to take to further their professional or academic careers. It also gives an insight to other job possibilities a teacher can create by becoming familiar with one of the external exams and setting up his/her own company to tutor students based on that exam.
