Planning a lesson can have both negative and positive outcome. On one hand, too much planning can make the lesson teacher-centred and inflexible towards needs of students. On the other hand though, it provides lots of benefits to both students and the teacher. Those benefits include being well prepared to produce a smooth and effective lesson, having a document to refer to in case of the teacher needs to get back on the right path with material, gives a ready to follow plan for a cover teacher, and with time it creates a good record of what the students learned. For the students it also means that, a teacher who has a very clear idea of the effective for students progress of the lesson, can allow for a lot of flexibility in order to increase STT and address the students needs as the lesson progresses. Considering all pros and cons, I am supportive towards planning lessons in a way that the plans are simple and flexible rather than rigid scripts.
