This Unit looks at lesson planning outlining the importance of a lesson plan and a complete guide to creating detailed lesson plans and self-evaluation forms to monitor the strengths and weakness of each lesson and its phases. I found gaining a better understanding of the 3 important functions of a lesson plan to be very helpful in deciding what information to put into a plan of my own, for example treating my plan like a record of materials used and topics covered meant including a little more detail about material used (in this case a song about colors) ensuring that if I re visit this topic I find alternate material. The 4 issues to consider when planning a sequence of lessons were also very helpful as it is very easy to forget to allow for changes etc. I feel planning a sequence is a wonderful way to set and achieve both short and long term goals for students while ensuring things like variety of activities and revision are kept in focus.
