This unit was very helpful as it covered a wide range of creative tools and activities to teach young learners. It explained ways to engage very young learners with songs, chants, and music; and how this method does not apply to older young learners. I learned that games can be used to effectively teach language to young learners while keeping them entertained, thus focused. Prompting students to read stories is another good way to engage and teach students. Reading stories written by others and then writing their own stories can improve students reading, listening, and writing abilities. Their speaking skill can improve if they are prompted to read their story out loud and then to speak about it. What I really liked about this unit in particular is the examples of the lesson plan. It is one thing to read about creating a lesson plan and another to actually see them as they clarify things and answer questions that pop up prior to seeing the examples.
