Unit 9 covers the subject of lesson planning. It shows why a teacher should plan a lesson and how to go about it. It also gives an example of a standard lesson plan and a blank plan is provided which can be used to fulfill tasks 2 and 3 of the task sheet or for a later use. This unit further shows how to monitor a lesson with the help of a Self Evaluation Form, followed by a few notes on how to plan a sequence of lessons. Using the task material on pages 10 to 13 on the Present Perfect Simple, we're asked to plan a Straight Arrow ESA lesson. With the help of the material on pages 14 to 16 a Patchwork ESA lesson on'Possibilities' should be worked out. This unit helped me to understand the importance of planning a lesson well so the learning process will be as smooth and enjoyable as possible for the students as well as for the teacher. I realize that focusing on each lessons strengths and weaknesses will help me to develop and to become more flexilble.
