Unit 16 covers the two productive skills speaking and writing. The first part of the unit concerns speaking and it starts by differentiating accuracy and fluency and how the two activities should be approached. Then speaking activities which can be used in the classroom are introduced, after that the issue of encouraging students to speak and techniques for reaching that purpose are introduced as well. Lastly, the unit describes a set of guidelines that are useful when planning creative speaking lessons. Writing is covered in the second part of the unit and it concerns handwriting, spelling, layout and punctuation and creative writing. Lastly, different communication games that are useful for promoting communication are being introduced. I feel that I have learnt what is important to focus on and include in lessons that concerns speaking or writing. I have also gotten a better understanding of how to create an environment that promotes communication.
