In this unit, I believe my main takeaway from this section was how many different factors go into a student's ability to learn English. It was especially interesting to see how different adult learners and young learners are when it comes to this process. Even though an adult is usually more motivated to learn, previous experiences and hesitancy to try due to \"loss of face\" can make learning more difficult. Also, the way in which the three different types of young learners learn also resonated with me. It makes a great deal of sense why a post puberty/early teen age learner might be unwilling to experiment with a language out of fear and self consciousness while as a very young learner does not have that same sort of self awareness yet. Overall, being able to adapt to the needs of different kinds of students while being patient, fair, and kind are all traits that make a good teacher. If a teacher is good, this will reflect in the progress of their students.
