Unit 17 provided great insight into the items and equipment that are necessary in a classroom. There are many different forms of equipment that can be found in a classroom, so this makes it critical for the teacher to be adaptable and prepared with the right gear depending on the school and funding given. In my old classroom when I was a student, I had white boards and an OHP with occasional videos and cassette players, but now technology is getting more advanced and therefore the equipment level has risen. I have only seen an interactive whiteboard once and really hope I get the opportunity to work with that as a teacher. Visual aids are always a critical piece and help with new vocabulary to connect students to the outside world and give visual aid. I really liked the idea of a video camera and giving students the option to do a fun activity or interview to help improve English. This unit was very insightful and gave me a lot of options to prepare my class.
