Teach English in Longli XiAng - Qiandongnan Miaozu Dongzu Zizhi
This lesson was one of the most fascinating ones because it was really hands on, well, mouth on. It could be physically explained so that I could try out the different sounds and see for myself how the vocal cords and my tongue work to produce different sounds. To be honest I had never studied the phonemic symbols chart before either so that was a new challenge. I think I should print out the symbols chart and memorize them more fully. I also found the section on sound joining interesting. Linking, sound dropping, sound changing and extra lettering are the reason why I think, a lot of students and ESL learners cannot understand native speakers in their 'natural environments' as well as they can teachers. Usually when teaching i'm guilty of trying to correctly pronounce everything, so that when I speak to students casually, or as an example, speak as if I were speaking to native speakers, they cannot understand what I'm saying! I will from now make sure to make students aware of this more!
