After watching both videos in sequence, I imagined myself sitting as a student in each of the two different scenarios. The first lesson showed a teacher who did not build rapport with his students,intimidated them and demeaned/discouraged their willingness to learn and participate by referring to parts of the lesson as \"too easy\". He did not smile or make the lesson enjoyable, nor did he find effective ways to actively engage his students. Also he was abrupt and dismissive throughout the lesson. The second video however, showed a teacher with a great attitude and excellent rapport building skills. His students had high energy and gladly participated. He found effective ways to engage his students and deliver an enjoyable lesson. He elicited participation from all his students and he boosted everyone's confidence and self-esteem. The second video also helped illustrate the 'ESA' teaching method very clearly, and showed how effective smiling, building rapport, using gestures, mimes, pictures etc; aid in planning a successful and effective lesson.
