The content in this unit describes 4 basic skills in learning any language and focuses on the receptive skills, reading and listening. It describes the reasons and motives to read and listen, how we read and listen and problems encountered when we read and listen. It ends with describing keys to successful receptive skill lessons.This was an interesting unit that involves more than focusing on what is being taught. Along with the lessons that are being taught, the relationship with the students, interactions with them and amongst their piers, managing discipline problems and the best use of the classroom space available are all parts of effective teaching.
