This unit defines receptive skills and the equal importance of both listening and reading. Then the approach to teaching receptive skills is layed out followed by a lesson plan which shows activities that can be condcted in different phase of the lesson. The motive for listening and reading effects how we listen or read material.This unit gave me ideas concerning how to activate the expressive skills students will need to communicate. Being a lover of games, the idea of bringing that love into the classroom to motivate students helps me see myself as an effective teacher. Although, of course, first and foremost is the students' learning, not my enjoyment.
