If we report what another person has said, we usually do not use the speaker?s exact words (direct speech), but reported (indirect) speech. Therefore, we need to learn how to transform direct speech into reported speech. The structure is a little different depending on whether we want to transform a statement, question or request.I found this unit very challenging as it was very difficult for me to get my head properly around the integral parts of phonology. It is just simply an area of knowledge that I find difficult to grasp in its content. The intonation and stress sections of this unit were much easier to comprehend in their relationship to pronunciation.
