Grammar is avery very difficult subject to me, and this unit has taken over a week for me to complete it. I think having to teach this to students will pose quite a challenge. I sat in on a ESL class being taught at my local library, and we went over grammar. The unit as taught me that the words we use to craft a sentence can be broken down and analyzed to create better more fluid sentences. There are nouns, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, prepositions, conjunctions, and others. Every single one has a meaning and use, and every single one has exceptions to the rules and common use. I didn't know what a gerund was and I found it very helpful to create sentences with the new topics to help me better remember the new content. \"Swimming is fun\" Swimming is the gerund because the -ing form of a is the noun of the sentence. I also learned that there are transitive and intransitive verbs, transitive verbs have an object that directly follows them while intransitive verbs cannot have an object follow them. I also learned that there are countable and uncountable nouns. Some nouns cannot be counted because they are ideas or things that we feel but cannot touch.
