Teach English in Zhonghe XiAng - Nanning Shi
Unit 3 covers course development, including level testing, level descriptions by various different frameworks and needs analysis. Once this information has been obtained, the teacher also has to take limiting factors into consideration, either given by the employer, constraints in form of time and resources, your type of students or cultural issues. An important part of course development is the design of a syllabus (if not available at your place of work). This specific element is of main interest to me, as my employer does not provide it, however the information given is somewhat brushing the surface, and this course has provided two websites as a reference that I could not access, hence I have not been able to learn much at all and am rather disappointed in the course at this stage. The unit then covers a broad overview of tests used to assess students at different stages of the course, and finishes by mentioning CYLE, KET and PET tests as possible specific English tests a teacher might have to prepare her students for. Again, I would have expected more detail, also in terms of references for coursework in order to prepare students for these tests.
