When teaching, common problem situations are connected with: - first lessons ? the teacher should establish rapport with the students as well as find out about students? needs and interests. Suitable activities include questionnaire and ?Pass the ball? game. - different levels ? the teacher should pair weaker students with stronger ones, he/she should use same materials but different tasks, etc. - large classes ? the teacher could use worksheets, choral repetition, use different social forms of classwork and appoint group leaders - use of native language ? the teacher should respond only in English, constantly remind students, etc. - reluctant students ? the teacher should use pair-work, role-play, controlled activities - difficulties with listening skills The Unit provides us with a wide range of tips to use when dealing with different problems in the classroom. Even though all of them are extremely useful, I feel that the ones concerning the use of native language and reluctant students have given me a basic knowledge how to deal with such problems because they always appear (i.e. are inevitable) in EFL classrooms.
