Teach English in Xinwei Jiedao - Nanning Shi

This lesson focused teaching methodologies. While a number of methodologies were covered in the lesson, the primary focus was the Engage-Study-Activate methodology. The lesson included a lot of ideas for activities to engage students and for activities that can be utilized in the study and activate phases of ESA. There was some focus on what methods and activities are best for different skill levels, but no real discussion on which methods are best for different age groups or cultures. I hope that there will be more information on this in future lessons. I found that there are some very interesting points within ESA; different approaches on how to implement or structure ESA were of particular interest. Again, I'm hoping for more information on what age groups, skill levels and cultures are best suited for different ways of structuring ESA. For example, I could see the straight arrow and boomerang structures being appropriate for adult and young adult Asian learners who are used to a structured educational environment, whereas a less structured patchwork structure may be distracting to them. I hope that these issues will be addressed in future modules.
