Unit 7 - Teaching new language Vocabulary is important in teaching a new language especially to beginners. Often students have a wider receptive vocabulary compared to their productive vocabulary. I can relate to with my knowledge of the Portuguese language, I can definitely understand more than I can speak. When teaching vocabulary it important to consider the following: - appropriacy to the students and or task selected for the lesson. - Frequency - teachability - depending on level of student. When learning new Vocabulary it is important that the student understands the meaning, the usage of it, where it is placed in grammar, how to spell it and how to pronounce it.
