Unit 5 was about lesson planning and specifically it discussed why lesson planning is important, how the lesson plan should be made, how to be organized when lesson planning, what needs to be included in the lesson plan, how to monitor your lesson for self-evaluation, how to plan a sequence of lessons, and gave a sample lesson plan and self-evaluation for with class material in the form of handouts as well. I learned the importance of self-evaluation and how to do so effectively. The self evaluation is used to monitor how your classes are going with the end goal being to improve your classes in the future. The self evaluation form shown will help to do that. It is my opinion that this is one of the most crucial steps to lesson planning and may be overlooked oftentimes. It is critical because through the use of self evaluation a teacher can improve class over class and year over year. The reason that I mention that it may be overlooked is that in my 2 1/2 years of teaching I have been rarely asked to do self evaluations but when I was it certainly was not required for each and every class, but rather for a quarter or semester or even for the year as a whole.
