This unit covered teaching English to various different groups of leaners beyond adult learners. It begins by discussing beginners, including the various different types of beginners, followed by tips, possible problems, and things to be careful of to ensure student motivation is high. The next section covered teaching individual students. I found this section interesting, as I have never considered the different needs for a one-on-one teaching situation. The material then moved onto teaching children. In my own situation, I mostly teach children at elementary and junior high school level, so this section was a good reminder of what I should be doing, and how I should be doing it. Classroom discipline/management is something that concerns me, and while I have not encountered any problems as of yet, it was good to be given some tips on what to do. The next section was on teaching English for use in business, and any consideration you may need. Being reminded that we are there because we are experts in English, not business, was good advice. Finally, the material discussed the difference between multi- and monolingual classes, and any problems you may face in each.
