This unit is about the several different teaching theories that have existed and still exist today. It shows you the pro's and the con's of each theory and teaches you that each method has it's value in different circumstances that depend on your personality,your students needs and culture. This unit talks pretty detailed about the new TEFL method ESA, which is a combination of at least four former teaching theories. It gives you insight on the three main phases of ESA teaching, the kind of activities you can use and what are the main aims during these 3 phases. It has given me information on and understanding of the different lesson-structure possibilities and how, when and what to correct of my students. Besides giving a detailed overview of these methods it stresses out what are the most important points you should consider when choosing a certain method; for example that the students need to feel relaxed, confident to be able to learn effectively, that they need as much exposure to the taught language as possible, that a minimum of input from the teacher is required and that teachers need to stimulate the personal discovery of the language by the students.
