Teach English in Luowen Nongchang - Nanning Shi
This unit looks at the number of different teaching themes. It starts from discussing the basic principles and techniques of using the case study method in class. Cases can be very motivating for business English learners as they give a chance to deal with real-life business problems. Problem based learning may be considered similar to case based learning as it also relies on the students' exploration of the topic and use of critical thinking. The teacher is more of a facilitator and advisor who encourages students to solve the problem on their own. Another topic that has been discussed in this unit is the process of frameworking. The term refers to the process of change from past to future and its model consists of three elements: input, process, and output. Input refers to the starting conditions, process relates to a series of actions before achieving any goal, while output is just what we end up with. In this chapter we also learn how to use games in the classroom and how to use internet to research a topic we are interested in. The final section contains lesson plans with other interesting materials that can be very useful when teaching business English class.
