Unit 4 is all about the materials and lesson plans that teachers use in teaching business English. The types of materials are the authentic and non-authentic materials. I have learned that it is very helpful to use authentic materials such as magazines, newspapers, and realia as these are real and help students have real-life examples to work from. However, using these takes time for teachers to check especially the relevance, vocabulary level, level of interest, and issues of culture and society which can bring to students. So as teachers, we need to consider these factors. On the other hand, non-authentic materials are already available anywhere as these are made for teaching. Therefore, we need to consider and choose the best materials we could use in our teaching. Talking about lesson plans, I have learned that lesson plans aid us in having a smooth flow our lesson. However, we need not to stick out to the plan as there might be some instances where we need to adjust or to do some changes or something else beyond the lesson. Lesson plans are still the best ways to keep track of your lesson and it can be your record that you have covered the lesson with the students.
