Testing and assessment is a key component of any educational course; furthermore, the external certification tests are valuable in regards to establishing the credibility of the test taker, improving their human capital in proportion to the number of certifications that are possessed. What I do find interesting though is that this section does not necessarily mention the kinds of tests that I remember taking in my English classes while growing up. These tests were principally spelling tests and short answer question sheets or exams based on books that formed the basis of the curriculum. I do not recall receiving extensive instruction in grammar while growing up; however, I do recall my teachers making extensive use of writing exercises; such as write three paragraphs based on the following three items (x,y, and z). It was through these writing exercises that I built up my grammar skills though sheer weight of experience as my teachers would continuously assign these exercises and then meticulously inspect and correct my sentences. I am inclined to incorporate techniques that I remember my teachers using to teach me English in order to teach English as a foreign language.
