Teach English in Jinling Zhen - Nanning Shi
The type of learner that is in your classroom can dictate the pace, content, approach, and materials associated with teaching English. However, the common thread throughout this unit is that the number one most important predictor and influencer of your own success as a teacher and the receptiveness of your students is your own personal attitude towards your work and willingness to have a positive attitude at all times. Having studied a foreign language in a multi-lingual setting before, I can attest to the distinct advantage of having the foreign language be the only language in common within the classroom. Oftentimes, especially in classrooms in which only the language being studied is used by the instructor, students like to ask their peers sitting beside them what the teacher has said or is saying. By having the common language be only the language being studied, this makes for deeply implantation of vocabulary, grammatical forms, and sentence construction. However, this format is not always applicable to the classrooms I may be teaching in, but the point still stands - learning happens best when the native language of the students is either restricted or prohibited.
