Teach English in Jianzheng Jiedao - Nanning Shi
Unit 15 explains evaluation and testing in English. There are various evaluation mechanics and tests which are given among students. Each one is administered or conducted with specific reasons or purposes. These are the following tests: placement, diagnostic, progress, practice, and achievement. A placement test is conducted to determine student grouping at the beginning of the course. In other words, an individual's knowledge of English will be the basis of the grouping he/she should belong to. A diagnostic test is administered at the beginning of the course. Its result will guide the teacher to find out students' strengths and weaknesses. Likewise, the result will also serve as the basis of the teacher in planning activities and enrichment exercises. A progress test is given among students to check whether the students have retained the concepts covered or not. A practice test is given among learners to further enrich and strengthen their knowledge and skills in preparation for external examinations. Finally, an achievement test is conducted at the end of the course. This measures how much students have mastered their lessons through the topics covered within a course.
