This unit is very good at giving a wide range of different techniques used in order to teach. It is clear that not one technique is necessarily correct, that each one will work at different times, with different students. I know I will have to devise a way to adapt lessons to include a variety of techniques to ensure the interest remains high. Throughout the module it is clear that getting students communicating is key and in order to do this they must be comfortable in the environment. Engage Study Activate is the approach used for the lesson planning section with the key point being, you should always start with engage, and end in activate. What happens between the two stages can vary depending on the teacher, the students or the level of language they are at. The module is very useful for providing ideas for each section, either games or activities to maximize student talk time. It finishes by teaching when to correct and the best way to correct students. The key being to allow the student to correct themselves if possible, if not then the classmate and as a final resort the teacher. The importance is how you make the corrections as you do not want to damage confidence.
