Teach English in Dongfeng Nongchang - Nanning Shi
This unit is based on two video lessons of a teacher in a classroom using different approaches in teaching. In the first video, the teacher point of focus was on Modal auxiliary verbs (can/can't). He began the lesson by letting the students understand that it's a very simple topic which to me , to an extend will act as a motivation to remove fear from the students but on the other hand, the look on the teacher's face seems the opposite because he was not smiling, ask to many questions when the students have not understand the topic well making them to be confuse. This makes the class boring and less lively base on the errors of the teacher. On the other hand, the teacher introduced a picture lesson which seems to be an interesting topic for them, making them happy and smiling, pairing them which makes them to participate more making the classroom interesting and lively. The teacher also make some actions while learning for better understanding of the lesson and also with much smiles on his face making the atmosphere good for learning. I will say therefore that , it is quite clear that the second video demonstrates an effective Engage Study Activate (ESA) method of learning.
