In this unit I have learned about the importance of lesson planning. We should absolutely have lesson plans for all the lessons taught in the classrooms. I understand that lesson planning acts as a record for what has been taught and it helps to refer to during the lesson. Lesson plans should continually be updated according to students' needs, and flow smoothly with other lesson plans. Lesson plans also come in handy for other teachers who needs to take over a lesson if the main teacher cannot be in classroom. Lesson plans should have a consistent form and information flow and should be kept simple and user friendly. Lesson plans should consist of the following: Teacher name, class Level, Room number,Date & time, observers(if any), number of students, learner objectives, Language point, teaching aids, personal aims, anticipated problems and solutions to any problems that may occur during a lesson. Procedure, phase, timing and interaction should also be in the lesson plan. Finally, teachers should always be early for class to go through the lesson plan and check that all the aids and materials work and are readily available for the lesson so that the lesson can run smoothly.
