This unit discusses some of the equipment and teaching aids that can be found in classrooms. The board is one of these, which has been discussed in previous chapters. Writing on the board clearly and being aware of ways to reduce time spent with your back to the class are very important. Similar to chalkboards and whiteboards, there are interactive whiteboards. These are becoming increasingly common and it is important to have some training to use these as effectively as possible. It is also important to have a backup plan just incase the board is not working well. Similar to these, there is the overhead projector that has different pros and cons in comparison to the board, which are discussed in this unit. One pro to these projectors over the board is that there is less time spent with your back to the class when using projectors. Other teaching aids discussed were visual aids, worksheets, work cards, cassette recorders, CD players, videos/DVDs, video cameras, dictionaries, course books, resource books, photocopiers, computers, and other online sources. It?s important to mix up different teaching aids for variety and to keep students motivated and interested in learning.
