The content of this unit contained the following: authentic vs. non-authentic materials, importance and how-to on lesson planning, textbook options, internet usage and classroom management. All of these content areas are useful to a teacher within the classroom setting. Most of this information was a review from the previous 120-hour certification units, but again pertinent to the young learner classroom educator. The 2 sections I found most useful were the pros and cons to using coursebook resources and classroom management. I agree with the unit when it takes the stance that textbooks can be extremely helpful to a teacher, but should not be the primary and only resourced used within a class. I liked the 4 \"easy to remember\" options for textbook use: omit, replace, supplement and adapt. Secondly, I found it interesting that within classroom management research (& the suggested book by Neville Bennett) they found that \"students learn despite their teacher's style\". Although it is important for teacher's to have a structure/plan to their classroom management, it is encouraging to know that even in a teacher's error(s) a student can be academically successful within a class.
