Unit 13 was about teaching pronounciation, which is important for accuracy and clarity of verbal communication. It introduced us to the International Phonetic Alphabet, described some rules of how English words are normally stressed, and described ways to analyze and teach sentence intonation. I found the section explaining how sounds are joined in English very interesting because I had never imagined that it could be appropriate to teach patterns of linking, sound dropping, sound changing, and extra lettering to students. Now I can see that sound joining may be an important aspect to point out to students who are learning pronounciation.
