Teach English in Xiaosheng Zhen - Meizhou Shi
In this unit I got plenty of examples of very good activate stage activities. I will summarize the past tense and give one activate activity (even though I got more than one) Past Simple- I worked yesterday. Subject + verb/ed/d.This is completed actions in the past,at a definite time in the past. The CV activity for adults I thought was great and even the following up with interview and group activity. Past Continuous. This is actions in progress at a time in the past. It almost always require a time reference. Subject+ was/were+ verb+ing. We were cooking.Activity where a picture of a hospital scenario is given to the learners and then flipped over and they must say what the people were doing. Past Perfect. The past in the past! Past actions and related past actions before that.Subject+had+past participle verb. She had finished her homework and went to the movies.Past Perfect verb is the action that occurred first. I liked the activity where students have to say what had happened before the photograph was taken. Will adapt to culture being taught. Past Perfect Continuous. One or two actions where one had been continuing at another point in the past. Subject+ had been+verb+ing. (present participle)Sue had been cooking. Or She had been cooking for three hours before we ate lunch. The activity that we also used in Present Perfect Continuous where a learner come up front and get a card with the sentence- Yesterday you were crying because....you had been watching a sad movie. But the learner mime /say only the first part and the others must guess why...because she had been chopping onions or her dog died...always try to keep learners focused on the tense you are teaching for that lesson. Easy to revert to past tense or just Present Perfect Continuous tense
