What I learnt from Unit 7 is about teaching a new language. The lesson that teacher should teach are include new grammar, vocabulary and functions of the sentence. There are four things that students need to do with new language: be exposed to it, understand its meaning, understand how it is constructed and be able to practice and produce it. In terms of teaching vocabulary to students, it will depend on a number of factors: similarity to students? own language or the words their already known, apporpriacy to the sentence and the spelling and pronounciation of it. Vocabulary is the first important step for each student to recognize the basic word of the language. Second part is about the grammatical structure that need to teach to the students. In order how to use the correct grammatical form, students need to know the meaning of the language and put it the term of pattern and form of English language. The most common problem in teaching grammar are mostly because the student always translate the word into their own language which are very different than English grammar. As a teacher, I will explain more in tenses and clear spoken and written of the language. Third part is the language functions that include areas such as inviting, refusing, agreeing and disagreeing and suggesting, etc. Teaching language also includes the appropriateness of the language in terms of the kind of language they use- formal, informal, tentative, technical, etc. The most effectively teaching using ESA methods are ?straight arrow? for grammar and vocabulary lesson, but in term function based, it is commonly use ?boomerang? or ?patchwork? ESA. However teacherhave to ensure that students are learning throughly and effectively. So they could understand the meaning of the sentence.
